One of the advantages of tumblehome is that the center of gravity is lower than in a design where the maximum beam is at the deck. this, of course, is assuming the depths are similar. tumblehome also has a more even stability curve. the early radical "dish boats" of the ior formula had the problem of floating upside down.. The plans and building notes show how to build the boat with or without the tumblehome if the builder prefer straight sides. the boat is too small to be fitted with a self bailing sole but she can be made unsinkable with the addition of buoyancy foam..

Tumblehome is a traditional 2 berth cruiser consisting of a double berth in the main cabin, which makes her ideal for couples and small families. offering a comfortable and relaxing trip, there is a good level of equipment on-board, including a gas cooker and hob, under counter fridge, shower and toilet facilities.. Design by david stimson, based on the alton wallace west pointer workboats from the maine coast. david's design is a bit larger that the original west pointer. she have plenty of freeboard forward, and her sweeping sheer puts the rail to a comfortable height for work or play. another nice feature is the tumblehome aft. this boat is strip-planked, and can carry a 25-75hp outboard..
